Born October 5, 1924 to the late Elzra and Pearl Prysock Giles in Union, South Carolina. She grew up and worked on a farm in Union County and was educated in the Union County school system. Before moving to Roebuck, South Carolina; she met the love of her life, the late Leroy Rogers, Sr. They were married in 1943 and had 53 wonderful years of marriage and to this union were born eight children.
Pearl worked for many years at Lincoln Middle School baking in the cafeteria. She enjoyed cooking, family visiting, and grocery shopping. She was a member of the Roberta Liberty Order of Eastern Star Chapter 133. She was the Queen of the Rogers family and we loved her dearly.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: 3 daughters, Ida Pearl Anderson Glover and Hazel (Rev. Bernard) Morman, of Roebuck, South Carolina; Betty Mae Harris, Moore, South Carolina; 3 sons, Leroy (Emma Sue) Rogers, Jr., Spartanburg, South Carolina; Robert (Tammy) Rogers, Thomas (Theresa) Rogers, of Moore, South Carolina; 2 daughters-in-law; Deborah Rogers, Moore, South Carolina and Jeannette Robinson Rodgers, Stone Mountain, Georgia; 9 sisters-in-law, Clote Rice, Rosa Lee Wheeler, Christine Wheeler, Ida Lillian Miller, all of Moore, South Carolina; Justine Turner, Bridgeport, Connecticut; Doris Parham, Fannie Ruth Rogers of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Minnie Bethea, Decatur, Georgia; Dora Bell Rector, Duncan, South Carolina; and one brother-in-law, L.C. Rogers of Spartanburg, South Carolina; 28 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pearl was preceded in death by late husband Leroy, two sons, Willie James Rogers, and Reverend Dr. Charlie Rodgers; 2 sisters, Willie Mae Hardy, and Elzenia Rogers; and one brother, Charlie Giles.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00p.m. at Foster Chapel Baptist Church, 2800 Stone Station Rd., Roebuck, South Carolina.
