January 18, 1938 ~ October 24, 2022 (age 84)


Mr. Stanford Mayes Wilkins, 84, (affectionately known as "Stan the Man") entered into eternal rest on October 24, 2022. He was the son of the late Riley Baxter and Vera Mayes Wilkins.  Stan was raised by Vera and Elishous Wilkins and is husband of Marian Odessa Wilkins.  

Mr. Wilkins leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Marian Odessa Wilkins of the home; 3 daughters, Sylvia (Richard) Miller of Roebuck, South Carolina; Kathy Foster, Spartanburg, South Carolina; Prevatte (Tony) Turner, Oviedo, Florida; 3 sons, Kenneth (Joyce) Wilkins of Orlando, Florida; Ivan (Mia) Wilkins, Oviedo, Florida; Stanford Reece (Michelle) Wilkins, Boiling Springs, South Carolina; one sister, Joyce Foster, Alexandria, Virginia; and 2 uncles (bonus brothers), Bradford (Jean) Mayes, Chesnee, South Carolina; Heywood Mayes, of Chesnee, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, favorite cousin, Ella M. Colbert, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilkins was pre-deceased by a son, Travis Wilkins.

Mr. Stanford Mayes Wilkins worked at Reeves Bros., for 40 years and for Callaham-Hicks Funeral Home for 15 years. He was a member of New Bedford Baptist Church, sang in the all male choir and was a member of the Trustee Board.  He was also very active with politics, especially with Senator Glenn Reese.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022, at 2:00pm at New Bedford Baptist Church,
210 New Bedford Church Rd., Campobello, South Carolina; with burial in church cemetery. 

Viewing on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 2p-7p at Callaham-Hicks Funeral Home, 228 North Dean Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Family is at the home of his wife, Marian Odessa Wilkins, 1661 Wilkie Bridge Rd., Chesnee, South Carolina.
